Laser hair removal is a popular cosmetic procedure that uses laser technology to remove unwanted hair from various parts of the body. It is a safe and effective way to achieve long-lasting hair reduction without the need for regular shaving or waxing.
We only use the best equipment possible to treat our clients, ensuring the safest and most clinically effective treatments possible. We are delighted to announce that we now have the world’s most exciting development in ‘pain-free’ laser hair removal technology: The Motus by DEKA. This new and unique laser hair removal device uses a specialist new technology: Moveo. This advanced technology allows us to use the exact type of laser considered by dermatologists as “most effective in laser hair removal treatments” (Alexandrite) but in a new ‘pain-free’ mode!.
Using the Moveo handpiece attached to our Motus AY, we deliver concentrated bursts of laser energy to the hair follicles in the treatment area. The hair follicles which are in their active growth stage absorb this energy as heat which travels down the pigment of the hair to the follicle which is the target. The heat damages the follicle and decreases the follicles ability to grow back.
After multiple treatments, some follicles can be rendered dormant.
We need to mention though that it isn’t life-long – that means that you may need to have top-up treatments in the months/years ahead as some hairs can return.
The treatment time varies depending on the size of the area being treated. However, most sessions typically take between 15-45 minutes. If you are treating multiple areas, it will take longer.
Yes, multiple sessions are required to be completely hair-free. We recommend an initial course of 6 sessions, however the number of treatments needed varies depending on your hair type, skin tone, and the area being treated.
Maintenance sessions may also be required from time to time (as mentioned above).
We are always as transparent as possible and so this will be discussed with you during your initial consultation. After we have assessed the above variables, we will have a better idea of the likely number of treatments you will need.
During treatment, a cooling gel is applied to the area being treated to protect the skin and to help the laser penetrate the hair follicles. The laser device is then used to deliver a series of short pulses of light to the skin. The treatment can be slightly uncomfortable, but the cooling gel helps to reduce any pain or discomfort.
Laser hair removal is a safe and effective procedure when performed by a trained and experienced practitioner. All our practitioners are highly skilled and experienced. However, there are some risks associated with the procedure, including skin irritation, blistering, and changes in skin colour.
The Motus AY laser machine, which is the one that we have in the clinic, is safer and more effective for all skin types over other lasers, including darker skin tones, thanks to its unique Moveo technology. This feature allows for constant motion during treatment, delivering energy to the hair follicles without causing damage to surrounding skin.
Patch tests are essential before any treatments can be booked to assess your suitability and allow us to check that you do not have any unexpected side effects.
Before your laser hair removal treatment, you MUST avoid sun exposure and self tan for at least two weeks before the treatment. You should also stop retinols and AHA’s and BHA’s if they feature in your skincare routine for a week before. But we will give you specific instructions during your consultation as well.
Please shave 24 hours before you attend your appointment. You may be charged extra, or refused treatment, if we have to shave you as this is not in our allocated treatment time.
After treatment, the treated area may be red and swollen for a few hours. It is important to avoid sun exposure and to apply a soothing lotion to the area. The treated hair will gradually fall out over the next few weeks.
Full price lists are complex to add as there are so many areas we can treat and different combinations, but click here for these if you would like.
